2007

8th Annual “Run for Relief”
Benefiting Children with Cancer

The UNM Student Lettermen's Association had another banner year organizing their 8th annual signature event, the "Run for Relief." It was a beautiful fall day and the event held on Johnson Field on Sunday, November 4th began and ended in success. The UNM athletic community came together again to raise $4,650.00 with more than 90 miles run! Over 38 student athletes and supporters participated in the event.

For the fifth year in a row, the UNM Men's Golf team raised the most money! The top individual fundraisers were Guillermo Chavez, Parker Pemberton and Dan Saltz of the Men's Golf team and Laura Bouldin of the UNM Student Athletic Trainers Association. The Track and Cross County team ran the most miles with Juan Ortega going the full 20. The best team participation was from the Men's Golf team and Women's Swimming and Diving team. UNM student athletes came from the Men's Golf team, Women's Swimming and Diving team, the Track and Cross Country team, Ski team, Women's Soccer team and the UNM Student Athletic Trainers Association. In addition to participating in the run, the Student Athletic Trainers staffed the two aid stations on campus. Proceeds from the community fundraiser are used to support children with cancer. Past proceeds have benefited the UNM Health Sciences Pediatric Oncology department. This event is sponsored by the UNM Student Lettermen's Association.

The Run for Relief is the signature UNM Student Lettermen's Association event.
