University of New Mexico alumni donors are a diverse and generous group of people, and perhaps the most dedicated of them all are those in the Cherry & Silver Society. |
Members of the Cherry & Silver Society are donors who have given to UNM every year following graduation.
The decision to give every year, regardless of the amount of the gift, is the most important factor for Cherry & Silver Society membership.
Alumni have a variety of reasons for giving to UNM — from enhancing undergraduate education, to supporting innovative research, to pride in Lobo athletics.
All alumni donors, who give at many levels, make a difference
in the quality of students, faculty and programs at UNM.
Thirty years after his graduation, C.W. Vickers, Anderson Schools of Management ’74, is proud to be a member of the Cherry & Silver Society. He’s modest about his record of giving, saying only, “I’m proud of my degree from UNM and grateful for the opportunity of a quality education. It is priceless! My financial support through the UNM Annual Fund is my way of saying ‘Thanks, UNM’. Pooled with the annual gifts of other alumni, my support will allow the University of New Mexico to provide opportunities to students that would be unavailable through traditional funding sources.” |
Those alumni who give to UNM each and every year following graduation are designated as members of this group.
New graduates have 18 months after the date of graduation to make their first gift.
You may support any University program with a gift of any amount through the UNM Foundation.
Making a gift electronically is fast and secure. To make a gift online, visit our web site.
You can also make your annual gift through automatic contributions from the account of your choice via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT).
This option allows you to make an annual deduction or spread your gift over a full year, with monthly or quarterly contributions.
And, you can make a gift by mail with a check or credit card.
Give what you can afford and consider a larger gift in the future.
Your gift could be doubled or even tripled if you or your spouse work for a company with a matching gift program.
Check with your human resources or benefits office for details.
Since many new graduates are not in a position to make gifts to UNM at graduation, family and friends are encouraged to make a gift on behalf of new graduates to get them started in Cherry & Silver Society.
Cherry & Silver Society also works in conjunction with the new Graduate with Honor program sponsored by University Libraries.
Through Graduate with Honor, friends and family honor a recent UNM graduate with a gift of $100 and University Libraries place a personalized bookplate in a newly purchased book in the subject of the graduate’s degree.
This gift of $100, in support of one the University’s most important resources, can also be counted as the first Cherry & Silver gift.
| Friends
and family members can make a gift on your behalf — celebrate your graduation — to be counted toward your Cherry & Silver Society membership! |
While we do send a small welcome gift to new members, the Cherry & Silver Society is not about gifts and premiums.
We may be able to bring you special members-only offers from time to time.
Donors prefer to see their charitable dollars at work to benefit students in the classroom.
The greatest benefit of membership is the pride of knowing that you have loyally supported your alma mater every year since your graduation.
The Cherry & Silver Society is a new tradition of philanthropy that will enable us to reach our goals and keep UNM competitive.
Staying at the forefront of teaching and research means that UNM academic programs must recognize and meet innovative and collaborative challenges as they arise.
Alumni contributions are essential to funding these opportunities.
Alumni gifts are a significant source of funds, more than $4 million last academic year, for UNM priorities.
An annual gift to the University of New Mexico is a direct investment in
the University’s students, faculty, programs and the entire UNM community.
