UNM Young Alumni

 

The UNM Young Alumni organization is committed to integrating recent graduates into the UNM alumni family.

The organization is designed to provide educational, social, and networking opportunities to recent graduates.

 


UNM Young Alumni Programs and Objectives

Professional Development

Purpose: Provide educational guidance in areas of personal finance and investment, professional growth and development.

How: The establishement of a UNM Young Alumni steering committee with a focus on educational program planning.

Ideas / Goals: Workshops on

Philanthropy

Purpose: Provide opportunities to maintain a connection to the University of New Mexico and the greater New Mexico community through service and charitable endeavors.

How: Establish a UNM Young Alumni steering committee to seek out philanthropic opportunities and to wrok with the greater UNM Alumni Association and the community.

Ideas / Goals:

Social / Networking

Purpose: Provide / create networking opportunities for collegial and social interaction with other UNM alumni.

How: Establish a committee to oversee the planning and coordination of social functions.

Ideas / Goals:

Communication

Purpose: Keep alumni informed and connected to the University of New Mexico and other alumni

How: Work in conjunction with the UNM Alumni Association to utilize avenues of communication via the Mirage, the Howler, listserv, inCircle.

Mentoring

Purpose: Provide an opportunity for recent graduates to establish personal relationships with UNM Alumni who are invested personally and professionally in our community and seek to nurture the same in others.

How: In partnership with the UNM Alumni Association, we will identify willing alumni who would serve as mentors to recent UNM graduates.

Ideas / Goals: Create the connection between UNM Young Alumni and professionals in their field of interest.

One of the social/networking opportunities UNM Young Alumni is pleased to assist recent graduates with is the Online Career Mentoring Program.

Online Mentoring Program

This program is designed to assist UNM students and recent graduates with career exploration and decision-making.

UNM alumni from all types of career fields have been invited to volunteer their time to talk with you about their professions and work experiences.

It is a great way to network, to help you with career decisions, and to make connections that may help you later in your job search.

The athletic facilities of Johnson Center are available to UNM Alumni during recreation hours for a reduced monthly fee.


 

Young Alumni Board of Directors

The UNM Young Alumni Board should consist of the following members, all of whom must hold a degree at The University of New Mexico:

Chair – The Chair shall oversee the other appointments, report to the advisor, and serve as a liaison to the UNM Alumni Board of Directors.

Programming Chair – The Programming Chair will organize, plan and implement activities and events of the UNM Young Alumni. Committees should include:
